Colourful, easygoing and unmistakably Sint Maarten — the Thirsty Pirate has anchored the Philipsburg boardwalk for years.
Where Front Street meets the sand
The Thirsty Pirate Beach Bar sits right on the Front Street boardwalk in Philipsburg — the busy, palm-lined promenade that runs along Great Bay Beach. On one side, the duty-free shops and buzz of downtown; on the other, golden sand and turquoise water. We're the spot in the middle where locals, beach-goers and cruise visitors all end up.
Step inside and it's pure Caribbean tavern: bright blue and green walls, a hand-painted treasure-map mural, rum-barrel bar stools and an “I ♥ Day Drinking” sign that pretty much sums up the vibe. Out front, our pirate keeps watch over the yellow umbrellas.
Cold drinks, good grub & a good time
The kitchen turns out beach-bar favourites — burgers and hot dogs off the grill, fresh mahi mahi, coconut shrimp, wraps and salads — while the bar pours frozen rum punch (voted best in the Caribbean), daiquiris in every flavour, and our own signature pirate grog. Cold Carib comes by the bucket.
On a good day you'll catch live steel-pan on the boardwalk, the smell of the grill, and the sound of the surf. Rent a beach chair, settle in, and stay a while — we're open every day, 9 AM to 6 PM.
